Question What would bring you back to Prophices or Factions?

I thought it would be fun to think of ideas that could be added to Prophices or Factions as a way of drawing back more players. It's not a complaint tread but more of a brainstorm tread. Any ideas?

My main idea was to have some cross campaign quests. I know there are already a few but a lot more in future updates would be nice. Plus it would help some of the vet players cross paths with some newer players. Maybe some cross campaign quests for end game players? That'd kill two bird with one stone so to speak.

People that are able to play the game. I like Prophecies and I like doing stuff there, but no one seems to be able to play well, not even as good as normal henchies. Cursed with ineptitude I guess.

I returned my cantha and elona characters to tyria to explore and play through the missions. I love Prophecies and enjoy going back there.

Factions however is a pain in my ass... worst game ever. A pretty picture painted over blocked portals and other annoying crap. Only way I'll return to Factions is if they opened up all the portals to allow free exploring like Tyria has.

What's the longer answer? If I may ask?

Not everyone will have all the chapters, so it would be unfair to offer a significant cross-chapter quest or mission arc.

I go back to Prophecies because it is fun and I also want to try out the new professions in an area that was not originally designed for that profession.

I never left Prophecies. Some of my favorite missions are in hat game, and I go back to help newbies and just enjoy the scenery.

That said, I'd like to see an update to the Prophecies world, perhaps as a new chapter. I'd love to play a campaign with the goal of restoring Ascalon, for example.

I doubt much of anything other than farming and greens will take me back to Factions. I might be coaxed into returning if the Elite missions were open to everyone.

Ineptitude is a Prophecies-only Elite that can be capped in Mineral Springs, if memory serves.

I go back to Prophecies because it's still the best of all the chapters, although Nightfall is a close 2nd IMO.

Maybe if they introduced some high difficulty level dungeons with rewards like cash or cool weapons, accessible to all (not determined by favor), with a catacombs type feel to them or something. That would probably get me to come back. Something you can play for hours with friends or henches/heroes. Maybe a powerful boss here and there like abbadon or something. Otherwise, I think I'll probably just keep my characters in Elona until I run out of things to do.

Easy....

Have characters that have multiple 'Protector' title to buy unique 'Protectors' only' armor in FoW.

recyclable, no new map design needed, visible reward, etc.

What is not fair about it? I have all three chapters. There could (even SHOULD) be a bonus for us that have been here from the beginning.

I see nothing wrong with A-Net occasionally throwing in new quests in old chapters or making multi chapter quests that they could add to the game via updates. One of the big selling points to GW at the beginning was their ability to stream updates and new content. I have been a bit disappointed that no extra quests or special missions have been added in a very long time.

I know I still go back to Tyria and Cantha to cap skills and I still need to get Masters on a few missions in Cantha and Bonus on a few missions in Tyria. With the Heros it will be much easier now too.

I already go back and play around in Cantha and Tyria, when the mood strikes me. I would enjoy some cross-continental quests.. I mean, everyone would take their characters back through from Unwaking Waters and the Ring of Fire to the Realm of Torment if the quest reward was two 15 slot bags.

For Pophecies: new repeatable high level quests in the outskirts of every province and region.

Makes farmers happy and makes veterans happy and when newbs venture too far in the map, they'll go "whoa whats that? I wanna fight that someday".

Skill rewards for quests in Cantha; Prophecies already has it.

I haven't left, I have an elementalist at Dunes, a ranger at Droknars and a necro at Ice Caves. I had to recreate them this summer so am still working my way thru the game with them.

I enjoy Tyria so don't really need anything to make me go back. Cantha gets a bit repetitive for me though.

I go back all the time. I have an ele starting out in Factions because I realized I had no ele skills unlocked for my ele hero that I have to use for certain missions. I also know you can level fast in Factions, and then I will move her over to the other parts of the game.

I am also active in FoW at times and the best place to access it is from the Temple of Ages. Some of the best solo farming is in Tyria.

The bigger question for me is what will bring me back to Nightfall. I like going back to Tyria for the Tombs and to see what's happening in Droks or LA. In Factions it's FA and Kanieng.

I go back to Prophecies to help out friends and Guildies, and I've still got that 1.5% left on my Cartographer title.

And I've still got those 2 Elites left to cap in Factions, and I'd be willing to help there as well. And my Assassin still needs his second 15 Att.

Although, having some additional quests that are cross chapter could be fun. They just shouldn't be all that big, y'know? Just some fun stuff for the players that have purchased more than one chapter.

The one thing that I fell in love with in Prophecies was pre-searing. Factions... meh. Not my style. I DID enjoy Fort Aspenwood though. That used to drag me back to Factions. Prophecies definitely had the story, the attraction of the various lands and the memories of being around since before Factions.

Well, I've said it before and I will say it again and again. I personally believe that NCSoft has gone a bit overboard with the campaigns. Do I like new lands and areas to explore in? Yes. Yes, I do. What I do not like is having nobody in the towns and outposts to talk to, trade with, form groups with because people are too spread out as-is among the many many towns and outposts and districts in the game.

Some of the smaller outposts now have absolutely NOBODY in them. In any campaign. Why? People are elsewhere. NCSoft is going to have to do something totally drastic in order to draw more people to Guild Wars and away from other MMORPGS like WoW. Otherwise, the more "continents" they add and the more places they add to explore, the more they're going to spread their player base out among the various locations and suddenly it's going to be even worse than it already is some outposts being ghost towns.

What I would love to see for the next Campaign is a quest. An arching quest that stretches from Tyria to Cantha in which players can travel back and forth to Lion's Arch and Shing Jea Island. This will limit players movements for those who don't have Prophecies or Factions. Heck, maybe even throw in the island of Istani into the mix, because at least there you have some areas where you can have 8 people in your group.

With this new campaign you can do the Lion's Gate area, but for the people with only this new campaign, the mission is something else. It's not to get to Lion's Arch.

But I think it's perfect. Start out at Shing Jea Monastery (party of 4), travel around until you get to zones / areas with parties of 6. Head out to Lion's Arch (party of 6) do a few missions there, quests etcetera, chasing perhapse a stolen artifact of great power across Kryta, arriving at last at Sanctum Cay, where the mission isn't to resurrect the boat, it's to reach the boat at the dock in time to confront the thief (or whatever), then the story shift, tracking the thief (or whatever) from Kryta to the island of Istani. More specifically the keys area. You can head to the quarry area, but Champion's Dawn and the Dig site are blocked off to people who don't have Nightfall installed.

Several quests and a couple of missions in the 8 member party areas, head on over to Blacktide Den, round up a mission or two there (unveil perhapse a special outpost further down from the bog). And then straight into hell. Follow the thief (or whatever) into the Fissure of Woe or the Underworld.

It could totally be done.
